Born in Spokane, Washington Coggin moved to Bend, Oregon in 2002 and starting instructing at Mt. Bachelor. Coaching came natural to him and the next season he was brought on by the Mt. Bachelor Sports Education Foundation (MBSEF). He has spent the past 14 years passing on his passion for being in the mountains to the youth of Central Oregon. As director of the MBSEF Freeride program, Coggin has guided athletes to the US Snowboarding and Freesking Rookie Teams. He currently serves as the PNW Rep for both the USSA Snowboarding and Freesking Sport Committees and as the USASA NW Coach Clinician.
His current winter plans are to shred as much pow as possible and spend any free time splitboarding. His list of potential backcountry zones for this next winter include Mt. Bailey, Diamond Peak Wilderness, Mt. Jefferson Wilderness and hopefully a trip to the Wallowas.
