JD grew up in Bend, OR riding Mt Bachelor and fell in love with snowboarding at a very young age thanks to his brother Will. Throughout high school, he focused mostly on the contest side of snowboarding, but slowly found out that riding new terrain and filming was what he was most passionate about. After a brief stint with the Burton Knowbuddy team, JD was asked to be apart of SnoPlanks and felt like he had finally landed at home.
This winter, JD will be residing in Everett, WA, where he plans to ride/film at Stevens Pass, Mt. Baker, Washington backcountry, and of course Mt Bachelor. Hopefully, he will be spending some time in Canada and if he’ lucky, Alaska. His biggest goals for this year are to split board as much as possible and constantly push himself out of his comfort zone. JD says “Snowboarding has done so much for me and has taught me so much about myself. To me it’s all about having fun with your friends while pushing yourself beyond your personal limitations.”
